At Summer's End

I will say that I did learn more about the value aspect of drawing. I will admit that I did struggle with this course at least since I mostly did my drawing more line based. But I think this does help in my idea of how I draw. I learned more there's more to it than just using lines. I am disappointed that some of my drawings still don't really look professional, but that just means I'm still learning and I've got to practice more. I do know that I need to sometimes put more work and time into some of my work and I will get better at it. This class did show me that much.

Resting her wings

It's like this collage is like a visual from a dream or fantasy tale. The images chosen look all mixed and so do the color values and textures. It's defiantly a good example of a collage, yet I still see it very odd in how it's put together and just even the choice of images. It's like there's not really much sense to it, kind of like a dream or the like of it.

Abstract Tree Flower Collage Painting

This collage practically yells abstract since it has much of it in lines, patterns(like the flowers in the trees.) and form. While I think the book pages are an odd choice for the background for a beautiful piece like this one, it still connects to the abstract theme as well as to the form of collage. The painting portions of the collage have a great sense of color value and tone also.

Boston Terrier Pop Art

If this collage doesn't say Pop art or Modernism, I don't know what does. The image and the theme pretty much speak for themselves. I've seen other Pop art images and while they, like this one, don't seem to make a whole lot of sense or looks strange, well that's just what it's suppose to do. The different texture, value and images of the pieces use work effectively in terms of Pop art, like the artist was just taking the image of a terrier and just making it their own.

Deconstructing Venus

While I do know that this is a collage, it also looks like a diagram from a book. Some of the images of the composition don' t look like they go together, but they look like they have a common link even a small one like color value or imagery, like they link together like lines in a diagram, which makes the collage and its images more effective in its composition.

Images in the Heavens 2

The artist of this collage features an image she got from a postcard and a page from a book called "Earth, Sea, and Sky. The edges are painted, so this collage includes mixed media.

I find this piece to have a whimsical feeling to it. The images she used really seem like they fit the collage's composition together, like I can almost see this image like it's from a children's book or with the page in the background I sort of get the idea of something from a church. It looks simple, yet still nicely put together.
